Welcome to Music at Immaculate Conception School!
I am excited to be in my 4th year here at Immaculate Conception. The school year is off to a great start in all music classes. Our students are such enthusiastic, talented musicians, and they are learning and growing so much.
The following grades have music on Tuesdays:Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 8th. The following grades have music on Fridays:1st, 5th, and 7th. The STREAM Academy Chime and Bell Choir meets on Fridays as well.
I am in school only on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. If you email me on a day I am not at school, I will do my best to reply as quickly as I can, but please know my response may be delayed.
Current units are:
Kindergarten: Travel Unit with Rhythm Basics
1st Grade: Carnival of the Animals
2nd Grade: Reading, Writing, and Dictating Rhythms
3rd Grade: Music Literacy Basics (to get ready for recorder!)
4th Grade: Music Literacy Review (to get ready for recorder!)
5th Grade: Musical Passports: Music Around the World (Native American and Mariachi)
6th Grade: Acoustics (The Science of Sound)
7th Grade: Mary Had a Little Jazz
8th Grade: Music History (Classical, Romantic, 20th Century)
**All students in grades 3-8 should bring a pencil with them every class! Other supplies may also be required.
Recorder Update: Recorders were ordered on Friday 2/16 and should arrive after February break. We will spend 2-3 weeks getting ready to read music, and then we will dive right in with playing!
Looking ahead: All students in grades 5-7 and the students in Handbells are required to be at the Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 30. You won't want to miss this year's concert, so mark your calendars now!
