Welcome to Music at Immaculate Conception School!

I am excited to be beginning my 4th year here at Immaculate Conception. The music room is ready for the new school year, and we have lots of exciting plans!

The following grades have music on Tuesdays:Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 8th. The following grades have music on Fridays:1st, 5th, and 7th. The STREAM Academy Chime and Bell Choir meets on Fridays as well.

I am in school only on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. If you email me on a day I am not at school, I will do my best to reply as quickly as I can, but please know my response may be delayed.

We begin the school year with the following units:

Kindergarten -- The 4 Voices and Nursery Rhymes

1st Grade -- Singing, Steady Beat, and Form

2nd Grade -- Music All Around Us Composition Unit

3rd Grade -- Rhythm Review and Singing

4th Grade -- Rhythm Review and Musical Games

5th Grade -- Star-Spangled Banner Unit

6th Grade -- The Planets

7th Grade -- Rhythm Review and Composing

8th Grade -- Cups Unit

**All students in grades 5-8 should bring a pencil with them every class! Other supplies may also be required.

5th Grade Extra Credit is due 9/29. Late projects will not be accepted unless a student is out of school that day. Students are invited to create some kind of art project that represents or calls to mind the flag of the United States. This goes along with our Star-Spangled banner. The options are endless, and I'm excited to see what the students create! Students were shown examples of successful projects during class as inspiration. Projects will not be accepted if they are simply printed from the internet or obviously done quickly. Please email Mrs. Wos with any questions.

6th Grade Extra Credit is due on October 10. It will be handed out on September 19.

Looking Ahead: The annual Christmas Play will be on Wednesday, December 13. This is a mandatory event for all students in grades K-4 and 8. More details to follow -- but mark your calendars NOW!

The BelCanto Choir is holding open houses during the month of September. Interested singers can find more information at the BelCanto website: https://abcbelcanto.org/
